The Beginnings of the Slow the Flow Initiative

​The Slow the Flow initiative was started through our Help for Cleveland Pet Owners Facebook page in January of 2025 with one simple call to a low cost Vet where we asked if we could sponsor some pit bull spay/neuters for people in Cuyahoga County.  They gave us five priority slots, as they saw the pit bull issue as clearly as we did.  This told us we may be on to a much needed service.

Since that time, we have provided funding for hundreds of surgeries through multiple Vet partners.  And, in late 2025, Friends of the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter decided to partner with us in providing this service.

Carianne is the primary Founder of this initiative, but her super cool husband (Eric) and two rescued pit bulls (Boobles and BeanBall) fully support it as they were both overbred before they landed at Cleveland Animal Care and Control.

When Carianne isn't trying to fix all the pit bulls in Cuyahoga County, she is working mostly her real job in People Ops/HR, hanging with awesome people, trail running, biking or playing outside.
